Some time later…
Avalon trotted into his land, Cali and Daiquiri on his heals. Avalon headed straight to the cave, checking for fire damage. When arrived he found only about 100 yards where charred and already beginning to recover. Poking his head inside the cave, he saw it was untouched other than the entrance he had kicked in the wall. Avalon pulled his head back out and spoke. No worries dear. It was a small fire, and the cave is untouched. The heat was gone, grass cool. He sniffed the air, could hardly smell any smoke left. Avalon reared as high as he could go, something he hadn't done in awhile, at least for fun. Landing he said. Anyone care for a quick swim? Avalon needed one, he was getting to the point of sweating. He tool off at a swift cantar, hurdling a a fallen tree, easily six feet high. He cleared it with plenty of space to spare and practically fell into the coolness of the water. He swan out deeper careful of the drop off.

The sight of the charred land, the smell of smoke, made her think back. She snapped out of it quickly. The fae giggled at the stag. Come on Daiquiri! Let's find more fish! Cali charged forward with a powerful gallop, though not too fast for her colt. The mare flew over the tree the same as the brute. She ran into the water, splashing everything, and immediately looked for pretty fish to show her colt.
Daiquiri followed behind his dam, though going around the tree. The colt trotted into the water, searching for the moving water of the fish.

Avalon chuckled and reared again, though he was still in fairly deep waters. He landed hard, using all the force he had, and successfully soaked both mare and colt. When the water stilled Avalon spotted a rather colorful fish and stood stock still as he spoke to Daiquiri. Any fish yet, Daiquiri? There's a little one here, can you see it? Avalom watched, smile on his maw, as his colt searched with his mother for fish. Looking up, his eyes met Cali's. Avalon shook his head out grinning and chuckling. It was much quieter without Artemisia and the other two around. He hoped he could find another mare ot two to help keep Cali company. Avalon was sure the mare would like female company.

Harks pricked he gently dipped his nose into the water. He was trying to be careful but the fish swam away. Daiquiri snorted in frustration, sending bubbles everywhere. Why don't they like me? The colt looked up to Avalon, question in his eyes.
Cali snorted at the splash the stag sent on her. She smiled back. The fae laughed at her colt. He always had questions. She watched as the blue liquid still gently rippled from Daiquiri. She wondered what it would be like, being a fish. Having to swim constantly and having curious horses or other animals blow huge bubbles everywhere, sending you flying. She decided she did not want to be a fish.

Avalon gave a throaty laugh at his colt's question. Well, its not that they don't like you. They're afraid of you, since you're so much bigger than they are. Avalon shook his head. This colt was a piece of work, similar to how he had been when he was younger. The sun was starting to get lower in the sky, ever so slowly. Avalon splashed out of the salty liquid and shook his mane out, water droplets flying. He trotted up to the apple tree standing nearby. It was quite tall and even Avalon still had to rear high to snatch one of the lower ones. Unsatisfied, he wanted the ones from the top, they where bigger and redder and looked a bit tastier. Avalon turned and using his powerful hind legs, kicked the tree hard. The trunk shuddered and several apples fell from the branches, landing without a sound in the lush grass. Picking one up, he offered it to Cali, watching to see what Daiquiri's reaction would be to the new fruit.

The fae took the ripe fruit graciously. She chowed through it, hungry as ever. The fae looked to her colt to see if he had tried eating it yet. Daiquiri, it's an apple. You can eat it. Eyes sparkling with happiness, she wtched as her colt tried out something new. Cali walked over to the tree where Avalon was and dropped her boyce. The sun was falling, becoming redder as it dropped. Eyes drooping, she slowly started to fall asleep, happier than she had been in awhile.
He snorted at it. A deep, nasaly snort. The round red thing smelled sweet, but he didn't know. His dam told him that it was edible, but he was being cautious. Daiquiri nibbled a tiny piece off of it, tasting. It was sweet, juicy. The colt chomped the apple in half, cheeks stuffed. He looked up at Avalon and giggled, mouth full of apple.

Avalon couldn't help the wide smile that spread across his maw as his colt chomped into a fat, juicy apple. Chuckling lightly, he settled next to Cali and nuzzled her lovingly. He looked at Daiquiri, inviting him to join their cozy huddle. The nigh was peaceful and warm, Avalon could here crickets chirping in the thick grass. Such a relaxing sound. Thoughts wandered around his head and he realized just how happy he was. He had an adorable little colt and a beautiful fae, both of which he loved dearly. Sighing in content, Avalon dozed for a bit, harks turning to pick up all sounds blown in on the wind. He felt Daiquiri move closer, so he was right near his mother and father. Avalon nuzzled the young colt gently, ruffling his short fuzzy mane. He stared out at the pink sunset stretching across the ocean horizon. Harks turned back inland as he caught the sound a an animal, not a horse but something that lived wild. He got no sent of any danger from the animal and assumed it was a deer or such and let it go, but kept listening just in case, though he doubted and true danger.

Early light warmed her, very slowly waking her up. Her harks flopped at random intervals, nerves getting back to work. Spring was gradually transitioning to summer but you could still feel the sharpness in the air. Soft wind blew her mane and forelock over to the side, waking her up more. She opened her eyes, catching the beautiful sight of the beach. Turquoise blue waters, white sands, mountainous ranges surrounding the coast. The apple tree above sashayed in the spring breeze, ruffling the morning sun. Cali yawned, finally awake. The mare pulled her legs out in front of her, pushing herself up. She lifted her crest, scoping out the tall apple tree above her. Avalon was a lot taller than her, it was easier for him to do this. The mare lurched back, power building in her well-bred hindquarters. She sprung up, powerful as a lion, and snatched one of the tree's fruits. She chewed through it, happy. Cali looked back at Avalon and Daiquiri, making sure they were still ok. They were fine, so she stretched her neck down, grazing on the ripe spring grass.

Avalon awoke, Daiquiri still slumbering nearby. Avalon opened his eyes, greeted by the bright sunlight shining over him, giving his boyce a red tint. He glanced around and heaved himself to his feet. Standing he looked over and saw Cali grazing a few yards away. Morning. Avalon said with a yawn. He flicked his harks this way and that, capturing all sounds in the air. He walked over to stand near Cali and nibbled at the bright green grass. His thoughts wandered for a bit, think of anything and everything. And speaking of responsibility. Avalon thought, now entirely alert. He sighed and trotted up his favorite rise beneath a large, shady tree. Here he could see nearly all his land, and all the borders. Avalon lifted his head, nostils widending and ears swiveling. He picked up nothing and headed back down to his family, coming to a sharp halt when reached them.

Wind now ruffled his once warm coat. They must've woken up. Daiquiri was waking up himself, wind and light changes registering, making him alert. The colt opened to his eyes to see Avalon coming towards them at quite a clip. Then he stopped. Daiquiri lurched up, stumbling a little on his foal legs. Tail flicking, he trotted up to his parents. Little chocolate orbs strained to meet others, failing.
Head shot up, harks pricked, whites of her eyes showing. Nostrils widened, she took in her surroundings as she heard a creature coming towards them. She spotted Avalon and relaxed. She wondered what made him so excited but at least it was him and not some other animal. Cali nickered to him. What's wrong? Worry slowly seeped into her eyes, very apparent to all. Hopefully nothing bad was coming their way.

Avalon gave a curious look. Nothing's of the matter, just checking around. He shook his mane and swished his tail at an annoying fly. Avalon studied the mare's sweet face, now tinted with fear. I should be asking you, what is the matter? He wondered if his little scan of the land had made her nervous. He glanced a Daiquiri, he didn't appear to have anything bothering him. Avalon blew out gently, and spoke. Sorry, I did not mean to frighten you, dear. I was just checking quickly. He walked over and nuzzled her then the colt. Lifting his crest, Avalon studdied Daiquiri. The strawberry roan colt was still a bit gaangly, but was growing. Slowly but surely. Avalon smiled, and grabbed a mouthful of grass.

Boyce relaxed. Her harks became less alert, whites of her eyes going back to where they were. Cali smiled. Oh nothing at all. I thought you saw something maybe... Cali was always an alert and protective fae, but now more than ever that she had a colt. She looked at Daiquiri, noticing the growth.
Daiquiri snorted, pollen from a flower drowning his nose. The powerful sneeze sent him falling back, landing right on his hindquarters. He looked around, dazed. THe colt laughed and pulled himself up, sniffing at the flower again.

Avalon gave a relieved smile, but then he did smell something. Be whipped around to see...a red fox. It quickly scampered away. Avalon sighed, he felt so paranoid. It was just a fox, to small to be harmful, except maybe to Daiquiri, but with his parent around the colt was fine, a fox wouldn't dare come near two fully grown equines. Sorry Cali, Daiquiri. Just a little fox, completely harmless. Avalon shook his head and then laughed, seeing his colt's sneeze knock him over. Who knew a flower could knock over a horse? He smiled, and decided he was in the mood for a snack. That apple tree sure came in handy. He reared up and, one by one, grabbed three apples from the branches. One for each of them, if any of his family was a bit hungry.

She giggled at Daiquiri. He was so different, but he was him. She sighed, relieved. It's fine, I've just been...jumpy...since...my whole life I guess. She watched the trees sway slightly in the spring breeze, the waves ripple the beautiful aqua liquid. The clouds blew slowly, wind warping their images. Chocolate orbsmet little yellow ones in a bush. It looked like another fox, harmless.
Daiquiri didn't sniff at it this time. He lunged straight for it, snatching it up with his teeth. Chewing slowly, he realized it tasted somewhat sweet. The red petals practically melting into sugar in his mouth. The colt instantly went hunting for more. Nose dragging on the ground, he stepped cautiously, not wanting to hurt any of his flowers. Daiquiri found a patch of them farther into the forest. He quickly ate them up, searching for more again.

Avalon gave Cali a reasuring nuzzle. Avalon stared after Daiquiri as he wandered toward the tree in search of more flowers. Avalon considered calling after him, keeping him close by and well within sight, but decided to let the adventurous colt have some freedom. He shook his head and smiled. He certainly is full of curiosity. Avalon spoke softly as he nodded toward Daiquiri. Avalon looked toward the bush where he assumed Cali had seen another fox. Looking there, the stallion saw that it was gone. Probabaly headed back to its den up north a ways. He gave a content sigh as he gazed around his lands, spotting Daiquiri's red-ish coat through the thin tree line. Smiling again, Avalon stepped forward, taking a drink from the fresh-water stream running through the meadow.

Nuzzling back, she snorted lighty at his comment. Chocolate orbs met his, sharing her thought before she spoke it. The playfulness of her glance said everything. Just like someone I know. She grinned sweetly to him. Standing close, she took inhis scent, filing it in her brain for emergencies. She already knew it, but now it was completely clear. Tail swishing at the pesky flies, Cali groomed the stag. Stopping, she looking around, facade of awareness winning the illusion that she had seen something. Standing there for a few moments, completely alert, Cali was tricking her stag. In a flash, she took off. Squealing and kicking, she sprinted for the water, daring Avalon to chase. Playful mood set aside from the first day they came here was brought to the front counter now. She stopped, standing spookily, to wait for the brute to give chase. She would be off in a millisecond again.

Avalon had his eyes half closed as his fae groomed him. He watched the mare pretend to see something to be concerned about, then take off toward the ocean. Avalon snapped his head around in the direction Cali had been looking, playing a very believable "There's a predator near by." facade. Finishing his act, knowing the fae wasn't about to fall for it, he whipped around and bolted after her. The big stallion slid to a halt, just as the mare took off bucking and kicking again. He shook his crest, silky mane flying. Am I really that curious of things? He said, a slight bit of a friendly taunt tracing his voice. He glanced at the wood before following after the fae, checking to see Daiquiri was still there. He was, nibbling flowers.

As she charged ahead of him, hooves splashed into the water, breaking it's surface tension. Out on a sand bar, Cali stopped, looking to where Avalon was. Seeing him, the mare reared out, splashing as she came down. Hazel orbs sparkling in delight, she laughed at the soggy horse.
Head snapped up instantly. He looked around, seeing no one. Fluffy coat rustled in the soft breeze as he doffed out for signs of either sire or dam. Daiquiri trotted out of the forest, sniffing again. Nothing. Picking up a trot, he headed north, away from the coast. The colt stopped every once in a while to smell for the horses again. He never could pick up their scent.

Avalon shook the water from his now damp mane. He turned toward the forest, orbs searching. He took a deep breath, and moved himself so Cali couldn't charge past him on the sand bar. All playfullness dropped from his voice as he spoke. Cali, where is Daiquiri? He stood, watching the fae's reaction. The big stallion shuffled toward her and nuzzled the mare lovingly.

Chocolate orbs searched both of Avalon's, then turned to the forest. When she left, he had been eating flowers, odd like his usual self. ...When I left, he was eating flowers... Her tone became frantic. Flying over to the forest, she snorted through her nostrils as she ran. She searched all around the are, not finding her colt. She reared, screaming in pain. DAIQUIRI! Her bodice dripped in a cold sweat despite the heat. Orbs terrorized, she hyperlantalated as she ran around, looking, screaming.
