Daggers flicking in an excited trot. She was still pretty scared from what had just happened. Swift trot transitioned to a smooth canter. Chocolate orbs wandered looking for the Gold Fields. She emerged into a clearing. I'm assuming this is it? She turned to Artemisia, questioning. The meadow was beautiful. Totally out of the way of winter precipitation. Daiquiri trotted up to her then dropped to rolled. She looked down at her little colt and laughed.
She followed behind Cali steathily until they emerged into the clearing. Yes, these are the Gold Fields. Artemisia looked around, void of emotion. Hazel orbs carressed her land until they stopped on the little forest of pine trees. Air escaped her lungs and stayed out. Reality hit again. The beat up fae dropped to her knees in weakness then fell. Boyce shaking, she sobbed. Sobbed for the dangerous situation they escaped, for her twins, for her family, for her herd, but most of all, for her lost love. She had loved Jasper with her whole heart and now he was gone. She didn't know if he would come back. She couldn't help herself as the emotions poured out.

Avalon slid to a smooth stop, breaking his gait. He glanced around the meadow, it was a pretty place. He opened his mouth to speak but caught himself, seeing Artemisia sobbing on the ground. Avalon turned and trotted over to Cali, giving the other mare some privacy. I think I'll head back and see how things look back home in a day or two. You two can wait here, I don't think Artemisia should be left without company. Avalon tossed his elegant head, catching the sent of smoke left on his boyce from the flames. I don't think the damage will be to awful. It was a somewhat small fire, just enough to... He trailed off, not wanting to think about another outcome. He took a deep breath of the fresh, flame free, air and waited for Artemisia to gather herself. He felt terribly for the fae, but what could he do? Jasper would return, he hoped. Avalon nuzzled Cali and then his colt, wishing in a way Theravada an ocean just yards away to watch the days whirl by over the horizon.

She nuzzled him back, orbs meeting. Be careful. We can't lose anybody else. With that, she looked over to the broken mare on the ground. Cali hoped she would never feel that power; the power of snapping. She sighed, feeling for her, and went over by the bushes to lay. Maw on the soft ground, she watched lazily as the foals romped around together.
Sobs rocking her body, she forgot the world. It was inconceivable; she couldn't handle it. Orbs wandered as she realized how much she missed her stag. The fae stood up to walk into the trees. She found her favorite spot to drop her boyce. She looked up at the trees the way she loved to as sobs rocked her. Vi and Klee came over and cuddled into her side. Artemisia nuzzled them as tears streamed onto the pineneedles on the ground.

Avalon looked at Cali. Don't worry, I'll be fine dear. He watched as the other fae wandered into the trees. Avalon considered following, but decided it would be best to let her alone for the time being. He was rather ancy being away from his lands, and Avalon took off at a smooth cantar around the large meadow. He hurdled a fallen tree, too high for most, but Avalon was a supuerb jumper and cleared the nearly six foot branches with room to spare. Landing lightly on the ground he slowed to a bouncy trot, to anxious to care how sloppy it looked. Finall he began grazing on the lush grass, watching Daiquiri romping around on his own.

Harks flicked as her tail swished at pesky spring flies. She looked up. The atmosphere had been choking from the pollution the fire had produced. The sky was now a healthy blue with pretty little clouds. Cali nibbled on the grass as she thought. Oh! Tge sky is clear so our lands must be also! Avalon! She called to him then looked up once again. Look at the sky! It's clear of smoke. Shall we go back home? She smiled down at Daiquiri. She did like it here, but there is never a place like home. She loved her beach. Cali looked to the forest remembering Artemisia. The fae walked over to her cautiously. The fae seemed to be better now so she asked her. I think it's safe to go back. Do you want to come along or wait for your herd here? Cali spoke almost maternally. She was gentle with the hurt mare.
Looking up, she contemplated the possibilities. Artemisia could go back to a safe herd or she could stay here and wait. She had Mystique and her foal to care for. She had been gone for some time and did not want to push her luck. Thank you so very much for keeping me and my company. She giggled sadly at her foals. It was very kind of you. I feel I need to stay here as duty of lead mare. I wish you luck. Artemisia smiled up at Cali.

Jasper stumbled into the lands, a week strait of fighting would ware any horse down, and the bloody stallion was at his breaking point. He made it a few feet before collapsing, he didn't even have the strength to lift his muzzle from the small puddle of mud it was in.
The stag hated that he had left his herd without a single word, but when he had herd that horses north of DBL had been disappearing, he wanted to stop it before it hit DBL. Darks had gathered in masses and were killing any lights they found, Jasper had helped gather enough lights to fight back, and after a week strait, the lights won.
There was no gold coat, only a mud and blood covered mass that lay on the ground.

Lonely fae, lonely fae. They can tell whenever anything happens, anything, within their radius. They usually are too weak to look though. Artemisia's head stayed down, hearing the sound of a mass fall. She ignored the world, absorbed in her memories. She lay there until it came to her. Nostrils widened, smelling him. He was here, right? That's what he smelled like. She couldn't trust herself anymore. She didn't want to get hurt. The fae lifted her heavy head, dark orbs searching for the source of the sound. They stopped on a mass laying on the ground. It camouflaged into the land. It's not him. The fae needed to help whoever it was. She dragged her boyce up, shaking the sting away. Artemisia slowly walked to the fallen horse. Nose dropped, she observed it. Hello? Do you need help? Actually, nevermind. You obviously do. She now saw the mess of blood and mud. The fae helpfully licked at the wounds, keeping all foreign subtances away.

As wounds were cleared, his golden coat shone through. He was to weak to speak, all Jasper could do was lay there with his eyes shut. The pain was constant, everywhere hurt. The stag knew that Artemisia didn't recognize him and looked depressed, this made him feel worse.

Gold shone through as the horse was cleaned. Liquid gold. It couldn't be. This horse was way to beaten up for it to be so. If Jasper had ever been this bad, Artemisia would've gotten very mad at him. Small tears started to build in the corners of her eyes, dripping slowly, leaving clean marks on the broken horse before her. She didn't know what to do. She couldn't think of a way to help. The fae laid herself down by the stag, licking away the pain.

All Jasper could do was lay there, he knew in the morning he would be able to muster the strength to get up and clean what dirt and blood was left, off of him. But for now all he could do was lay there and fall asleep to the rising moon, with his lead mare at his side.

Thoughts, memories, futures, all combined together to giver her an answer. She figured it out. Jasper was back, laying at her side, totally disabled. Frustration and sadness teamed up to wash over the fae. She was totally broken. Artemisia dropped her head to the ground, not touching the stag. He was terribly beaten and she didn't want to hurt him more. They lay there, sifting in and out of consciousness, waiting for morning to come. To the Savior's lands.

The sun lit the fire of brilliance on the land, bathing it in color. Jasper had been awake for an hour, he finally sighed and heaved himself up, legs wobbling. After steadying him-self, the stag made his way to the lake and washed off. His coat was now back to its shining gold, only now with patches missing and cuts galore.
Jasper's stomach had not been full for a while, so he grazed while he waited for Artemisia to wake. He was worried that she would be angry with him, rightfully so. All he could feel was anguish, he left his herd, his family, even if it was to protect them.

Sun like a heatlamp, crawling across the sky, coloring the land, blinding to the eye. It warms your soul, inside to out. She felt it there, tail flicking about.
Her brain woke up, nerves flying. She had her sense of feel back, noticing the missing boyce. The fae opened her eyes, scanning the meadow. Forest from where they first came, mountains, raspberry bushes, pine trees, then the lake. Liquid gold, unpurified by red. She sighed a sigh of sadness. Why would he do this? Leave without word, hurt himself so badly? The mare pulled herself up, rested body feeling better than it had in a long time. She gently walked over, standing next to the stag. She stretched her neck down, sipping the water, hydrating her needy body. Artemisia lifted her head, water dripping from her muzzle. Umber orbs forced eye contact with Jasper. Why? The extreme happiness from seeing him again, the anger at the situation, the sadness at his wounds, all made up for her emotionless expression. She needed help right now. She needed him.

Jasper put his neck over Artemisia, hugging her to him. "I did it to protect you, to protect everyone. A darkness was chocking the lands north of DBL, killing anything in it's path, I couldn't let it near here." The golden stallion hugged his lead mare closer "I'm so sorry I put you through that, but I'm back now and not leaving."

Learning into his embrace, she understood. He was a fighter. His strong will and determination always won a fight. She knew this but did not want to accept it. Shoulders relaxing, losing her tenseness, eye ducts became moist. I'm glad you guys won but look at you! She stepped back two feet, examining his wounds. They were easier to see now, the lake had washed away his disguise. She shuddered in disgust. Disgust of darks, disgust of how badly hurt Jasper was. Artemisia sighed sadly.
