Avalon awoke, and saw Cali with a fearful look on her face. Lifting his bead he nuzzled her. What's wrong dear one? He groomed her lovingly, a concerned look crossing his features. It's alright, I am here Cali. He said softly trying to comfort his love. He continued to groom her until she calmed down some, then he looked deep into her chocolate orbs. Are you alright? Avalon asked again, caressing her with his eyes.

Cali looked down, embarrassed with her curse. Chocolate orbs met, melting away her blockade. Well, it's just that...I had a dream...I had my foal, my colt. Cali wanted so badly for these nightmares to stop. The Darks came...and well... Cali started sobbing. The fae spoke through tears and a swollen throat. They killed him! Avalon...they killed him. She leaned into Avalon as sobs rocked her boyce.

Avalon looked at his fae as she sobbed into him. She shouldnt be going through this. He nuzzled her, frantically trying to calm her, at least a little. Nothing will happen to you or your foal. I won't allow it. He said it softly, in a reasuring voice. Avalon wanted Cali's dreams to end, he hated to see his love suffer. Do you want to talk about it, dear one? If it makes you feel any better, you can tell anything. But it is up to you. he continued grooming her, comforting her gently, his eyes filled with love and concern for his fae.

Cali looked into her love's chocolate orbs. She sighed. Thayer was blocking me, keeping me there. His three mares came...they just...went for it! I.Had.To.Watch.My.Foal.Die. Cali spoke through clenched teeth. She tried not to cry anymore, she didn't need to.

Shh, dear one. Nothing is going to happen. It was only a dream. He continued to nuzzle her, as he had been doing. He sighed in sadness, it hurt him to see Cali suffering like this. He continued trying to be comforting. Snuggling closer he said, Look, Cali. The sun is coming up. Isn't it beautiful? See how it lights up the land? It turns everything such nice bright colors. Avalon took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet morning air, and all dents comin with it. Nothing out of place. He smiled a tiny smile at Cali. Are you hungry, Cali? I can get you some apples for breakfast. The tree is but a few feet away. He watched his fae closely, trying to wash all the bad feelings from her mind. His looked at his beloved mare, chocolate orbs met again, and some of her pain appeared to ease.

Hazel spheres met others. Whenever she looked at him, she felt safe. I trust you. Cali nuzzled him back, showing that she would forget about it, Avalon as protection. Sure. I'll come with you. The slate fae stood, waiting for her stag.

Avalon rose steadily to his feet, and broke into a fluid trot, heading towards the apple tree. He slid to a stop and looked up, searching for the perfect one. Spotting large red one, he reared back and streched upward. Snagging it between his teeth, he set it gently down in a patch of grass. Seeing another nice looking one, he cocked back, but was unable to reach it. Dropping down, he tried again. This time he placed his forelegs against the trunk, practically climbing the tree. This try he got it, and set it down next to the other. Avalon nosed the apples toward Cali, then took a mouthful of the lush grass. He smiled and said, If you wish, I can get more down.

Cali smiled and giggled as the stag jumped to get the apples. That won't be nessecary kind sir. Cali giggled in a mock-prim tone. The fae chewed through the ripe fruit graciously. As she finished, she could smell something. She looked up to catch eye contact with a herd of wolves. Avalon, don't make sudden movements. Slowly walk over to me.

Avalon barely heard Cali, he too had caught the sent of the wolves, and not just one. Still, he took slow steps, then turned carefully once he stood between Cali and the pack. He looked at the wolves, harks pinned but he made no sound yet. He looked at his love. Back. Away. Slowly. Glancing at the wolverine pack, scanning over them he counted six. Thwy hadn't moved, but the look in there eyes was clear: they didn't plan to come through peacefully. Without looking at Cali he said, very softly, If they attack, you will get away from here and fight only if you have to. And under no circumstances will you leave our land. Under. No. Circumstances. He repeated firmly. He saw one of the wolves twitch, and they all inched forward. A snarl came from it's mouth. You. Will. Do. As. I. Tell. You. Avalon hates to be this harsh with his love, but it was far too dangerous for her, and the wolves where not getting any friendlier.

Cali nodded. What ever you say... She whispered. They kept inching forward, snarling softly. Umber spheres met little black ones, setting them off. The wolves charged, snarling and snapping. Cali squealed and spun around astonishingly fast. The fae kicked as she ran, making sure none got too close. Just like her dream, they ran her down. Run, run, run. Faster my dear, faster! Cali kicked at a wolf as he got closer, missing him by a measly inch. I tired to escape, he was faster. He herded me to his lands. The mare squealed and kept lunging forward, lungs starting to strain. The Dark lands were in sight, gloomy lands they were. Cali crashed into the water, thinking they couldn't follow her. How wrong she was! The wolves were very fast in the water. The bigger one latched it's claws into her flanks as she struggled to get back to shore. The small ones were farther behind, so the mare rolled, forcing the demon to let go. She sprinted away, demons on her heels. It's happening again... The fae was blinded by fear, just running straight forward. When she finally looked up, she was in the heart of Fire and Ice, right by Thayer's cave. The little beasts slowed to a walk, surrounding her, keeping her in place as a shadow emerged from the cave.

Avalon was after her in an instant, kicking a last wolf aside. GET BACK TO WHITE SANDS! He screeched, herding her back quickly. Avon didn't let Cali or himself slow down until they where back into their lands. Avalon was breathin heavily, and was quite angry. Cali, He scolded, a sort of sadness in his eyes. Why? Why did you leave here? You should not have we could have been in far more trouble. He sighed, they where safe now, his only concern was the returning of any wolves. I'm sorry I yelled. I should not have, but please don't go anywhere unless you are in Light lands at all times. He nuzzled her, harks flicking all the time, still wondering if he'd hear any growls.

Cali followed silently, but franticly, behind her stallion back to their lands. By the time they got back, she could hardly breathe. Eyes bugled as she gasped for breath and heart beat like a hummingbird. Her head was to the ground as she coughed and wheezed, lungs adapting to the air flow. I'm...sorry...! I...wasn't...paying...attention...Cali tried to talked as her throat scratched and she coughed. I...should've...known...

Avalon shook his head, angry with himself. I'm sorry, Cali. If you can forgive me, I am sorry I yelled. I should not have. He sighed deeply, still recovering from the run. He nuzzled Cali, saddened. I'm sorry. I know...it was..quite frightening. Shh, don't try to talk, I'm sorry. He med hernto the stream, encouraging her to take a drink. As she did so, Avalon nuzzled her apologetically. He looked at her with a serious expression on his face. Will you forgive me? Can you forgive me? He shook his head again, if his fae wanted to forgive him of his wrongs, she would. If not, it was her choice either way. Avalon stayed close to his love, still feeling awful for having been so harsh.

Cali looked up at him, worried. It's ok, seriously, I forgive you. It was my fault. I wasn't looking. Cali scanned the land, memorizing the sight, sounds, smells. She would never leave here like that again. Cali would pay attention, not wanting to cause harm to her foal or Avalon.

Avalon sighed in relief. Thank you. He said, nuzzling his fae gently. And it was most certainly not your fault. More mine than anything. I should have noticed them sooner. He shook his head, all was done. No use getting angry at himself now. Now fully recovered, Avalon took a few steps and began to graze. Ripping some loose, he snorted blowing it high into the air, and watched the wind carry it away. Every sonoften between mouthfuls, Avalon raised his head, harks swiveling, to check for any dangers.

Black willowy winds disrupted the pattern of the lush grass. The moon was hiding, a new moon, and the long appendages of the willow trees brushed Cali's flanks as she lay there, still as could be. The fae was not dead, nor sleeping. She was in pain. Cali lay there, concentrating on the feel of the branches caressing her, practically comforting her, as she breathed, in and out. Each breathe held effort, each heartbeat, stuggled. Her muscles ached, but she did not make a sound. Cali did not want to disrupt Avalon, or bring attention of unwanted guests as she lay vulnerable.

Avalon stood near the center of the clearing, dozing. A full moon shone across his back, enough so he had a shadow. He knew Cali was nearby, so he didn't worry. Despite his dozing, Avalon kept an eye oneverything. Nothing out of place. Slowly he raised his head and looked up at the stars. It was clear night, and the glowing orbs sparkled as far as the eye could see. It was a peacful night and Avalon could hear the soft sound of ocean waves breaking on the beach. He took a deep breath, taking in all the sents. A spring breeze washed over his pelt, cooling the spring air. Avalon looked around once more. Satisfied that everything was sound he continued to drift in and out of a light sleep.

Some time later, the haunting willow softly caressed two boyces. Cali lay in the warm grass, cuddling with her new company. Strawberry Daiquiri had been born earlier. The darkness kept the damp air cold. Cali's body warmed him, along with the grass. The happy two lay there, drifting to sleep in the dark of the night, comfot of the willow.

The next morning...
Avalon shook himself awake and looked out at the rising sun. It had just cleared the horizon and was rising steadily. Sticking his nose in the air, Avalon caught the sent of Cali. He trotted lazily toward her, and when he was few feet away, caught another unfamiliar sent. He slowed to a walk, head low. He found Cali still asleep, and low and behold, a little colt by her side. A smile spread across his maw. He backed away a few steps so as not to scare the foal if he woke up. As he stepped back, Cali stirred. Flicking his harks, Avalon nickered softly to her. The strawberry colored colt didn't move, still sound asleep. His grin widened as they awoke. He would have liked to go straight to Cali, but held himself back. Avalon didn't want to scare his son. The breeze blew his fetlock into his face, rustling the coats of his family in the midst if a rising sun.

Sun rise, moon fall. Everyday the sun and moon continued their dance. Harks flickered at the slightest sound. A familiar scent engulfed her. She tried to open her eyes, only to find the pink morning sun was blindingly bright. She groaned and flickered her eyes to get accustomed to it. The fae stretched and lifted her boyce off the ground. Daiquiri hadn't stirred. Cali didn't want to wake him up, but she had to. The new herd member had to get the routine down. The mare groomed her son until she saw his eyes flicker open. There, that's it. Time to get up now. Words soft through the light breeze, holding love in every syllable.
Daiquiri wiggled in discomfort as the bright light downed his eyes. The fumbly colt spread out his front legs and tried to hoist himself up. He fell to his side, and bounced up to his feet, landing unsteadily. Nostrils wide, eyes still flickering, his dam's familiar fumes flowed to him. Another, farther away, scent came. Daiquiri squealed as he opened his eyes wide. Instincts fueled adrenaline in his blood. Who knows what that sect was coming from? The colt, clumsily, scrambled to the side of his dam that would shield him from the unknown.
