Aretemisia was in foal! Her dream of always wanting a foal was fiding it's way out. It was coming true! She certainly had the pregnancy glow about her. She sauntered over to the gently flowing river and lightly sipped dainty mare sips at the water. When she had her fill, she walked over to her favorite spot in the trees and slowly laid down. She did everything as slow and careful as she could these days. She had to make sure her baby was safe. She could NEVER live with herself if anything happened to it. "Jasper? Where do you think all the dark horses are? I mean, it's a good think we haven't heard of them, but still." Artemisia thought about the disapearnace of the darks. She really hoped it wasn't some sort of disease. That could cause harm to her precious little bundle!

Jasper was grazing out by Artemisia, he raised his head "I have seen a few darks on my walks, the rest just seemed to have disappeared. I'm not sure what happened to them." Sure, it was unsettling to not know were the rest of the darks were, but why not enjoy the peace while it lasts?

Artemisia sighed. How odd. "Well hopefully the last of them will die out. I think an attack is imminent, but Vivian is wrong. We should wait until we've all settled." She looked out at the land. Hearing of stray darks unsettled her. She felt like she was being watched. Like a dark could come at any time and take her, or worse, somehow harm her foal. "How do you think they're faring?" Artemisia hopes he would say bad, but she had a feeling it was the opposite.

"I agree, it will take them some time to get their numbers back up but they eventually will. I don't think they are stupid enough to attack just yet, and if they did it would be three herds against one small herd." Jasper was not worried, they would be fools to attack right now, the light herds were to strong, the dark to weak.

Mind lightened, Artemisia decided that she would protect the herd at any cost. At least they weren't going to attack. In her current state, she couldn't do much. She could try, but it would be very risky. At least the Lights had three good stallions. The Darks, only one. "So we're safe right now?" She just had to be sure. Her foal was coming soon, the worst would be an attack on the day. She looked over towards the Arrowheads and Tropical Paradise. So many mares were pregnant right now. The Lights were vulnerable. At least the Darks were weak.

"Yes" The golden stallion was relaxed about the darks, but he was sure they would try to steal. They had already tried for both his mares before, what was to stop them from trying again? "Both the other light herds have had mares stolen, but most escaped or were rescued. They even took Silverpelt and Vivian's lead mares! I have been able to keep him away from our her luckily." Jasper was glad he was smart, it helped I'm out a lot.

Artemisia's jaw dropped. Lead mares?! That's really sickening! Artemisia spat her words. If she ever came across a Dark horse, stag or fae, they would have another thing coming. Especially if Artemisia was defending any of the herd, that was par of her duties as lead mare. The shining far felt heavier. The days were ticking by, her foal was coming. She didn't know what it was going to be like. No one ever even told her about it. Her dam hadn't ever the chance. My love, the day is coming closer and closer. Days are whirring by like crazy! Please, in the name of all thR is good, you won't do anything rash. I love you and I don't want anything to happen to you. In the sake of the foal, the herd, the Lights, and me. Promise me, please. Artemisia was on the tip of the verge of silent tears. She couldnt think about losing Jasper. She would be lost. The fae got up and walked over to the golden stag. She nuzzled him lovingly because she knew any day could be your last.

Jasper nuzzled Artemisia back "Don't worry, I got Aleta safely back home. I don't plan on going back there, but if he steals you or Mystique, I WILL go after him." He was not kidding, if the dark stallion some how got one of his mares, the golden stag would be ready to rip the black brute in half.

Artemisia sighed out of distraught. If she was a Dark stallion and had just failed at keeping mares in his herd, what would be her next step? She would leave them alone for a bit before trying it again. Hopefully that's what he is doing. Well hopefully his little failures have discouraged him from doing this. The day was just beginning, the sky was a navy blue with the orange spot around the barely rising sun. Artemisia's coat was fluffier than it ever was, getting used to the high altitude. This was the first time she had ever lived up this high; she did like it, it was beautiful, she just had to get used to the temperatures.

Jasper nodded "Hopefully your right" The gold stag was getting sick and tired of fending off stallions that tried to steal his mares. He noticed her winter coat was starting to come out, soon clumps of hair would be falling from her. Jasper looked at him-self, he too would start shedding, but not much. The gold brute didn't hair up much in winter, the Welsh Cob in his blood made his skin thick, it also helped him in a fight.

The gold and white splashed fae felt itchy. Spring was here and temperatures were, very slowly, warming up. Artemisia saw that she was starting to shed. Shedding was one part of spring she disliked very much. The loose fur would get in her nostrils and eyes. That happened to her a lot and it cronically annoyed her. She walked around, nose to the ground, until she found a spot. Artemisia slowly heaved her boyce to the ground and gently rolled. She had learned from various members of her birth herd that that got rid of the most fur. You had to constantly rub it off. How annoying shedding was!

Jasper watched Artemisia, turning his head, he scratched his boyce. After spitting out the little bit of hair that had found it's way into his maw, the gold stallion walked over to a tree. After scratching for a while his summer coat was starting to show through. It was an even more brilliant gold than his winter, slightly darker and richer.

Artemisia watched casually as Jasoer also tried to shed his winter protection. She lifted her head, widening her nostrils, taking in the spring breeze. Then she smelled another fae. The other mare was close, probably in their lands. Honey, do we have a new herd member! If so, I must meet her!] A smile spread across her maw. Their herd shall grow. Artemisia had dreams of being the lead mare in the biggest Light herd. She would be Queen, ruling side-by-side with her King, Jasper. The underdogs they were, but she had visions, belief, that they could make it to the top.

"Yes, we have a new chestnut mare named Rowa." Jasper's herd was slowly growing, with only three mares, the Maruis herd was one of the smaller herds. He was happy with his small herd but wouldn't mind if it were to grow.

Artemisia smiled. Any new member was welcome. The fae liked company. She hoped it was company to keep. Rowa. What a pretty name! Do tell me about her! She wanted to learn every mare in close detail. She needed to be able to spot her from far away. She needed to protect them. Artemisia gained responsibilities when she became a lead mare. The fae was ready to pay close attention to Jasper.
Later that day...
The waxing cresent shone brightly in the midnight sky. At this time of night, Artemisia would usually be sleeping alongside Jasper, but tonight was different. She felt heavier. She didn't know what was wrong, but she was restless. Artemisia kept walking the borders, keeping her legs moving. The painted fae looked up to the moon. It had always fascinated her. So pretty, so mysterious. Artemisia felt something. There was definantly something wrong. There were constant pangs in her womb. Maybe today is the day. Her boyce was too stricken to walk around anymore, so she dropped down. Artemisia was giving birth.
The next morning...
Artemisia was happily grazing, feeling so much lighter. Klee, her newborn colt, was romping around, falling often. Vi, the filly, was also trying to romp around with her twin, but she wasn't as outgoing. She stayed around her dam, suckling then trotting around. Artemisia lifted her head and whinnied to Jasper. The twins needed to meet their sire.

Jasper woke up to the bright morning sky alone. Looking around, he started to panic, where was Artemisia? The brute was about to call out for her when he herd her voice. Fallowing the call, Jasper came to a halt with a smile on his maw, the twins!

Artemisia spotted her golden love. She nickered a greeting to him. Good morning! The fae was beaming. Her first foals! Se was overly happy, ecstatic.
Jumping, running, flopping, falling. Klee was hyper! The colt sprinted up to a tree, skipped to a halt and fell. He quickly scrambled up and bit the tree. You get in my way! He screamed at the tree. Klee bounced and kicked, lunging away from the innocent tree. He stopped and sniffed the ground. So many smells! It was overwhelming for a little colt of his age! Kle snorted and pawed at the ground, uncovering more smells! He sneezed and bounced away. Klee stood stock-still, harks pricked. A bird flew by, and he jumped up and sprinted, ramming hard into a golden stag. Klee whinnied, scared, as he scrambled away and hid behind his mother.
Vi suckled, then trotted in a circle, suckled then trotted in a circle, over and over. Vi wanted to play with her brother, but he was to fast and furious for her. She stayed very close to Artemisia as she watched Klee make an idiot out of himself. Vi was suckling, but turned as Klee whinnied. Her eyes bulged at the golden brute. Who is that?! She thought in panic. Vi squealed and ran behind her mother, huddling with Klee.

Jasper chuckled as the little colt rammed into his flank and then hid behind his mother. "Someone is a little boisterous!" with that he took a few small steps forward and lowered his head to their height. "Hello there, I am your sire, what are your names little ones?"

Artemisia chuckled as her foals hid. She turned around and nudged them forward.Klee, Vi, go introduce yourselves to your sire. You can play in a little while. The fae smiled as they took very small hesitant steps toward Jasper.
Klee made it so that he was some distance from the stag. I'm Klee, the older one. Klee smiled up at his sire. He would always be proud to be older. He shook his head as flies buzzed around his ears, tail flicking viscously.
Vi watched Klee introduce himself. He looked fine, so she slowly walked up to Klee. From behind her brother, she spoke softly. I'm Vi. She looked up at the golden stallion. So much taller he was than her! She looked back down quickly. Her little flap of a tail flicked all around, her little boyce bothered by spring flies.

The golden stallion smiled down at the foals "Hello Klee, hello Vi" looking up at Artemisia, Jasper wondered if she would feel comfortable with the foal meeting the rest of the herd soon. Looking back down, he thought that she would be fine and put his head closer to the foals "How would you two like to meet the others? You could probably go and play with the other foals as well, as long as it's fine with your mother."
